The Challenge
The client noticed their irrigation system was watering the lawn during rainstorms on a regular basis. This indicated an obvious issue with their rain sensor system that needed repair.
Our Approach
The Account Manager for the condo board was asked to set up a service call to diagnose the issue of why the sprinkler was running during rain storms, and make any necessary repairs. The service call was set up, and confirmed with the property manager of the scheduled visit. When on the condo property, the staff investigated the major components of the irrigation system which could cause issue. The team assessed the design and functionality of the system components, and troubleshot the system for the issue.
Our Solution
It turns out the system was outdated, and the existing rain sensor was no longer functioning. The panel being used at the property was not a WiFi-connected panel, therefore the panel was not able to tell the system to not water as enough water had been scheduled, and happened. The technicians were on site, to validated the system, and replaced the non functioning rain sensor, and advised to upgrade to a better more accurate control panel, with tighter capabilities to suspend watering cycles, for when mother nature waters for us.
Our Result
After the rain sensor was replaced the client saw an increase in the accuracy of the control panel's capacity to get the signal from the sensor to suspend watering cycles. When condo board approved the estimate submitted for the wifi controller, a service crew was sent to complete the installation. They quickly set up all the extra triggers, settings and alerts which come with the panel’s technology. The management team reported seeing a 40% savings on the amount of water used the following season. The condo board is very happy as the savings will soon pay for the controller upgrade and save money for the future.
