The Challenge
Our client, Melbourne Property Management, experienced a main line leak to their legacy irrigation system. The leak was slow, but if left untended it would have caused a serious disruption to their tenants' businesses.
Our Approach
Our team was brought into assess the issue and provide rapid remediation.
Initially it was not certain that the irrigation system was the cause of the issue, so we needed to investigate before we could identify the problem and propose a solution.
Our Solution
-
Careful excavation
In an effort to minimize impact on the property, our team implemented a targeted asphalt cut, then proceeded with exploratory digging with shovels. This was the best choice as an excavator would have disturbed the area much more.
-
Identified leak and developed strategy
Our team quickly found the source of the leak. As always we documented thouroughly with photographs to share with our client. Once the leak was found we developed our remediation strategy and sprung into action.
-
Rapid repair and thorough inspection
We cut out the bad section of piping and attached a new section with clamps. After we resolved the issue, we took special care to test the line pressure and ensure that no leaks or other issues were present. Then we backfilled the area and used cold patch as a temporary asphalt repair.
Our Result
Our client first contacted us about this issue in early winter when their system was not in use. They were very pleased with our clear and responsive dialogue in suggesting a path forward to remediate this issue. As a result, we were more than ready when spring arrived. We scheduled a repair for a Saturday to minimize disruption to their tenants. We were able to resolve the issue within a single day. Their irrigation system continues to function well to this day!
